Highest-Paying IT Certifications in Poland 2026

Ranking of the highest-paying IT certifications in Poland in 2026. Find out which certifications lead to the best salaries and how to prepare for them.

Klaudia Janecka Author: Klaudia Janecka

IT certifications have long served as career accelerators — but not all certifications translate into salaries to the same extent. In the Polish job market in 2026, there are clear differences between certifications that genuinely raise salary ranges and those that merely supplement a CV without significant financial impact. If you’re planning to invest time and money in certification, it’s worth knowing which programmes offer the highest return on investment.

The Polish IT market has matured to the point where employers can distinguish between ‘display’ certifications and those that genuinely confirm advanced competencies. This is particularly evident in areas where demand for specialists significantly exceeds supply — cybersecurity, advanced cloud architectures and Kubernetes are three pillars around which the highest salaries concentrate. In this article, I examine specific certifications that consistently correlate with the highest salary ranges on the market, analyse why this is the case and suggest how to plan a certification path with maximum career impact.

Important note: no certification alone guarantees a specific salary. Earnings depend on many factors — experience, location, employer’s industry, soft skills and market conditions. A certification is a signal of competence that opens doors to higher salary ranges, but it’s your experience and skills that determine whether you’ll walk through those doors.

Where do the salary data for certified specialists come from?

Before moving to the ranking, it’s worth explaining the data sources. The analysis is based on publicly available information from Polish recruitment portals — Bulldogjob, Just Join IT and No Fluff Jobs — which publish job offers with salary ranges. Additional sources are IT salary reports published cyclically by these platforms, as well as global data from Glassdoor and reports from certifying organisations (ISC2 Cybersecurity Workforce Study, Global Knowledge IT Skills and Salary Report).

Comparing salaries of certified and non-certified individuals is methodologically complex. People who invest in certification often also have more years of experience, greater motivation for development and work in more demanding environments. Therefore, in the analysis I use salary ranges from job offers in which a certification is listed as required or preferred — this gives a picture of what the market is willing to pay for certified competencies. I don’t invent specific amounts or percentages — I present trends and relationships between certifications that we observe on the market.

Which IT certifications rank highest in terms of salaries?

The table below lists certifications that consistently appear with the highest salary ranges in job offers on the Polish market. The ranking isn’t a closed list — it’s an overview of certifications that in 2026 most translate into a specialist’s value on the market.

Note that the position in the ranking doesn’t result solely from exam cost. CISSP costs $749, but consistently appears with the highest salary ranges in the security industry. Azure Solutions Architect Expert costs just $165 for the AZ-305 exam (after passing AZ-104 previously), yet ranks near the top — it’s a certification requiring advanced architectural knowledge.

Why do cybersecurity certifications dominate salary rankings?

The cybersecurity segment has maintained its leadership position in terms of certified specialist salaries for years — and this trend is only intensifying in 2026. The reasons are structural and result from fundamental changes in the market.

Firstly, the competency gap in cybersecurity is widening faster than in any other IT segment. The growing number of attacks, new regulations (NIS2, DORA) and pressure from management boards to secure digital infrastructure create demand that the market cannot satisfy. In this situation, employers compete for available specialists, driving up salaries.

Secondly, security certifications have built-in entry barriers. CISSP requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in at least two of eight security domains. This means the certification isn’t accessible to juniors — a CISSP holder is by definition an experienced professional, which raises the certification’s value in the job market.

CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) from ISC2 is widely recognised as the gold standard in the cybersecurity industry. Holders of this certification can expect some of the highest salary ranges in the entire IT industry. CISSP opens doors to roles such as Security Director, CISO, Security Architect — positions where salaries reach the highest levels in Polish IT. The exam cost is $749, which compared to the potential salary increase makes it one of the most profitable certification investments.

CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) from ISACA is a certification focused on information security management — ideal for those heading towards managerial roles. With an exam price of $575, it’s positioned slightly lower in cost than CISSP, but job offers requiring CISM show similar salary ranges, particularly in the financial and corporate sector.

OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) is a certification for penetration testing specialists. At $1599 (including lab access), it’s one of the most expensive, but also one of the most valued certifications in the offensive security segment. The exam format — a twenty-four-hour practical penetration test — means that an OSCP holder demonstrates real ethical hacking skills.

Which cloud certifications translate into the highest salaries?

Cloud certifications constitute the most numerous segment of the IT certification market, but not all translate into salaries to the same extent. The key dependency is simple: the higher the certification level, the greater the impact on salary ranges.

AWS Solutions Architect Professional ($300) is a certification that consistently appears in offers with the highest rates in the AWS ecosystem. It requires not only deep knowledge of AWS architecture, but also the ability to design complex, multi-account, multi-regional solutions. Job offers requiring AWS SA Pro are positioned clearly above those requiring only Associate level.

Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305 exam for $165) is the equivalent of AWS SA Pro in the Microsoft ecosystem. Despite the lower exam cost, the certification requires prior passing of AZ-104 (Azure Administrator), meaning a total investment in two exams. Job offers requiring this certification are among the best paid in the Azure segment, with salary ranges comparable to AWS SA Pro.

GCP Professional Cloud Architect (~$200) is a certification gaining significance along with growing Google Cloud adoption in Poland, particularly in companies using BigQuery, Vertex AI and data engineering solutions. A smaller pool of certified GCP specialists compared to AWS and Azure means that holders of this certification can expect a premium for niche specialisation.

It’s worth emphasising that entry-level certifications (AWS Cloud Practitioner for $100, Azure AZ-900 for $99) have minimal impact on salaries. They’re valuable as a knowledge foundation and first step on the certification path, but in themselves don’t constitute an argument during salary negotiations. The market values certifications at Associate level and higher.

Are Kubernetes certifications worth their price in terms of salaries?

CNCF certifications — CKA, CKAD and CKS — cost $395 per exam and are among certifications with one of the best price-to-career-impact ratios. Their position results from several mutually reinforcing factors.

Kubernetes has become the de facto standard for container orchestration and the foundation of cloud-native platforms. Companies implementing microservices, internal platforms and cloud infrastructure need Kubernetes specialists, and demand consistently exceeds supply. CNCF certifications have gained particular reputation in the market because their examination format — practical tasks in a live cluster — confirms real skills, not just theoretical knowledge.

CKS (Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist) holds the highest position among CNCF certifications in terms of salary impact. It combines two hot topics — Kubernetes and security — making it particularly valuable in organisations where security is a priority. CKS requires prior possession of CKA, which raises the entry barrier and the certification’s value.

CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) is the certification that most frequently appears in job offer requirements related to DevOps and platform engineering. CKA holders are valued higher than DevOps specialists without Kubernetes certification, particularly in companies building internal developer platforms.

CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Application Developer) is aimed at developers and has a slightly smaller salary impact than CKA, but constitutes a valuable complement to a programmer’s competencies. Combined with a cloud certification (AWS or Azure), it creates a strong cloud-native specialist profile.

An additional advantage of CNCF certifications is a free retake included in the exam price — in practice, you pay $395 for two attempts, which lowers the effective cost of risk.

How do project management certifications compare to technical ones?

Project management and agile methodology certifications are positioned somewhat differently than purely technical certifications. Their value grows not so much with technical specialisation itself, but with the transition to a managerial path, where formal project qualifications are often required or strongly preferred.

PMP (Project Management Professional) from PMI for $555 is the certification with the greatest salary impact among project certifications. In corporations, consulting firms and organisations implementing large IT projects, PMP is often a requirement for Senior Project Manager positions and above. Salary ranges for PMP-certified project managers are clearly higher than for managers without this certification, particularly in the financial and telecommunications sector.

PSM I (Professional Scrum Master) for $150 is a certification with one of the best price-to-value ratios on the market. Although it doesn’t generate as large a salary jump as CISSP or AWS SA Pro by itself, combined with experience in a Scrum Master role, it allows for better conditions negotiation. A huge advantage is no need for recertification — the certification is lifetime, eliminating long-term maintenance costs.

PRINCE2 Practitioner (~£295) has particular significance in the European market and public sector, where PRINCE2 is often the project management standard. In Polish public administration and companies implementing EU projects, PRINCE2 is sometimes a formal requirement, directly affecting salary ranges in these sectors.

It’s worth noting that the highest salaries in IT project management are achieved by people combining a project certification with a technical certification — for example PMP + AWS SA Associate or PRINCE2 + ITIL. This combination of management skills with technology understanding is particularly valued.

Which niche certifications are undervalued market gems?

Beyond the mainstream of cloud and security certifications, there are several niche certifications that can surprise with their salary impact — precisely because few specialists possess them.

TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) with an exam price of about $500 is a certification for enterprise architects. In Poland, it’s particularly valued in large organisations, banks and telecommunications companies that need corporate architecture specialists. The small number of certified TOGAF specialists relative to demand means that holders of this certification can negotiate very attractive conditions.

Salesforce Architect (certifications on the Salesforce architectural path, about $400 per individual exam) is a certification whose significance is growing along with Salesforce’s expansion in Polish companies. Salesforce specialists with an Architect certification are among the best paid in the Salesforce ecosystem, and demand for them is stable.

HashiCorp Terraform Associate ($70) is a relatively cheap certification that, combined with experience in Infrastructure as Code and a cloud certification, can clearly raise a DevOps specialist’s value on the market. Terraform has become the standard in cloud infrastructure management, and formal confirmation of these competencies is increasingly required.

Istio Certified Associate ($250) from CNCF is a certification for service mesh specialists — a technology gaining significance in microservice architectures. Very few people in Poland yet possess this certification, making it a potentially valuable distinguisher.

How to calculate personal ROI from IT certification?

The decision about certification should be well thought out — not every certification will be an optimal investment in your specific situation. A simple framework will help assess whether a given certification makes financial sense.

Start by estimating the total certification cost, including exam price, preparation materials, possible training and the value of time dedicated to preparation. For AWS Solutions Architect Associate (exam $150, materials and practice exams about 200-500 PLN, training 3000-6000 PLN if you decide on a course), the total cost is in the range of 4000-8000 PLN depending on the chosen form of preparation.

Next, check salary ranges on portals such as Just Join IT or No Fluff Jobs, comparing offers requiring the given certification with offers for similar positions without this requirement. The difference gives an approximate picture of potential salary growth.

Return on investment time is calculated by dividing the total certification cost by the monthly salary increase. If certification cost you 6000 PLN and translated into a salary increase of 1500 PLN monthly, the return occurs after four months. This is of course a simplification — in practice, the certification effect is often spread over time and doesn’t always translate into an immediate pay rise.

Don’t forget about non-measurable factors: a certification can open access to more interesting projects, facilitate promotion to a desired position, increase credibility when changing jobs or negotiating contract rates. These benefits are difficult to price, but genuinely affect the long-term value of certification.

Does certification alone guarantee higher salaries?

This question requires honesty: no, certification alone doesn’t guarantee automatic salary growth. A certification is a signal of competence, not a magic pass to higher earnings. The market values the combination of certification with experience, practical skills and the ability to deliver value.

A certification without corresponding experience is less valuable than experience without certification. A person with CISSP certification and five years of experience in security will be valued significantly higher than a person with CISSP and minimal practical experience. Therefore, the best strategy is certifying competencies you already possess or actively develop — the certification should confirm and strengthen existing skills, not replace experience.

It’s also worth paying attention to organisational context. In consulting firms and technology partners (AWS Partner, Microsoft Partner), certifications have a direct impact on the organisation’s partner status, translating into the company’s willingness to remunerate certified employees. In start-ups and small product companies, a certification may have less significance — what matters above all is what you can do.

The most effective strategy is combining complementary certifications. AWS SA Associate certification alone has a moderate salary impact. But AWS SA Associate + CKA + Terraform Associate create a cloud-native/DevOps specialist profile that’s significantly more valuable than the sum of individual certifications. Similarly, CISSP + Azure Security Engineer positions you as a cloud security expert — one of the most sought-after specialisations on the market.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which IT certification gives the highest salary increase relative to cost?

Considering the ratio of exam cost to salary range impact, the best ROI is offered by AWS Solutions Architect Associate ($150), PSM I ($150) and Azure AZ-104 ($165). They’re relatively cheap, widely recognised and clearly affect negotiating position. Among more expensive certifications, the best ratio is offered by CKA ($395) due to its practical format and free retake.

Do entry-level certifications affect salaries?

Entry-level certifications (AWS Cloud Practitioner, Azure AZ-900, CompTIA A+) have minimal direct salary impact. Their main value is building knowledge foundations and a certification path. If your goal is salary growth, aim for certifications at Associate level or higher.

How many certifications is it worth having simultaneously?

Quality over quantity. Three-four strategically selected complementary certifications (e.g. from one cloud ecosystem + Kubernetes + security) have greater value than eight entry-level certifications from different areas. The market values depth of specialisation, not certification collecting.

Do certifications lose value over time?

Yes, certification value decreases as technology evolves and more people obtain it. Therefore, recertification and following new exam editions is important. Certifications in dynamic areas (cloud, Kubernetes, AI) require continuous knowledge updating. Certifications less susceptible to becoming outdated are those based on frameworks and methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL).

Which certifications should be planned for 2026-2027?

The strongest trends for the coming years are AI/ML certifications (AWS Machine Learning Specialty, Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer), platform certifications (CKA + CKS + service mesh) and security compliance (CISSP, CISM in the context of NIS2 and DORA). It’s also worth observing the development of certifications from HashiCorp and new CNCF programmes.

Are foreign certifications in Poland recognised the same as global ones?

IT certifications are by definition global certifications — AWS, Microsoft, CNCF, ISC2 and PMI are international organisations, and their certification programmes are identical worldwide. In the Polish market, they’re fully recognised and valued. Moreover, the global nature of certifications means that your certification has the same value in Poland as in Germany, the UK or the USA — which is particularly important when working remotely for foreign clients.
