Business Analyst:Contemporary Challenges and Key Competencies (2025+ outlook)

The Business Analyst plays a key role as a bridge between business needs and technology capabilities. The main challenges are effectively collecting, analyzing and managing requirements in dynamically changing projects, modeling complex business processes, and ensuring that the IT solutions provided actually meet the organization's strategic goals. The ability to adapt to agile work methodologies and use digital tools for data analysis and visualization is growing in importance.

Key technical and methodological competencies include familiarity with business analysis standards (e.g., BABOK), requirements engineering techniques (e.g., IREB), ability to model processes (BPMN) and systems (UML), and proficiency in tools to support these activities. Strong analytical skills such as critical thinking, the ability to solve complex problems, and accurate communication are essential. In terms of soft skills, interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, are key. "Technological awareness" , including understanding the potential of AI and Big Data in a business context, is becoming increasingly important.

Rationale

Combining the traditional skills of a business analyst with an understanding of new technologies, innovation methodologies (Design Thinking, Event Storming), and competencies in change management and data storytelling allows the company to serve as a strategic advisor to support digital transformation and build competitive advantage.
