Essential technical skills include in-depth knowledge of operating systems (Linux, Windows Server), network technologies (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN), virtualization, storage management, and monitoring and backup tools. Competence in network and systems security is absolutely critical. Skills related to automation (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell, Python) and knowledge of the basics of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) are becoming increasingly important.
Among soft skills, the key ones are the ability to think analytically, solve problems, be meticulous, be able to work under time pressure, and communicate, especially in the context of user support and cooperation with other IT departments.
