  • BPM lifecycle — identification, modeling, analysis, implementation, monitoring, optimization (continuous improvement loop)
  • Process identification — organizational process architecture, hierarchy (mega-process to process to subprocess to task), SIPOC
  • As-is process mapping — information gathering techniques (interviews, workshops, observation), swimlane diagrams, process mining
  • Introduction to BPMN 2.0 — notation goals, basic elements (events, activities, gateways, flows), tools (Bizagi, Signavio, Camunda)
  • Exercises: process identification in a sample organization, as-is process mapping in BPMN 2.0, SIPOC analysis
02

Day 2: BPMN 2.0 modeling, analysis and process metrics

  • BPMN 2.0 — advanced elements (intermediate events, complex gateways, subprocesses, artifacts, pools and lanes)
  • Process analysis — bottleneck identification (bottleneck analysis), value-added analysis (VA/NVA/BVA), waste elimination (Lean)
  • Value Stream Mapping (VSM) — value stream mapping, lead time vs cycle time vs wait time, waste identification
  • Process metrics — KPIs (cycle time, cost, quality, throughput), SLAs, process dashboards, balanced scorecard for processes
  • Designing to-be processes — optimization techniques (elimination, simplification, automation, parallelization), benchmarking
  • Exercises: BPMN 2.0 process modeling, value-added analysis, designing a to-be process with KPIs
03

Day 3: Automation, BPM implementation and change management

  • Process automation — BPMS (Business Process Management Suite), workflow engines, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), low-code/no-code
  • BPMS tools — platform overview (Camunda, Bizagi, Appian, Microsoft Power Automate), selection criteria, architecture
  • Implementing BPM initiatives — BPM organization (COE, process owners, process analysts), governance, implementation roadmap
  • Change management — resistance to process changes, communication, training, quick wins, building process culture
  • Process mining and continuous improvement — automated log analysis (Celonis, Minit), continuous improvement, Kaizen in BPM
