Day 1: BPM concepts, process identification and efficiency analysis
- Process-oriented vs functional approach — organizational silos, end-to-end thinking, process as a value chain (Porter), BPM and digital transformation
- BPM lifecycle — identification to modeling to analysis to implementation to monitoring to optimization, the manager's role in each phase
- Process identification and mapping — organizational process architecture, SIPOC, swimlane diagrams, levels of detail (L0-L3)
- Introduction to BPMN 2.0 — notation for managers (events, activities, gateways, flows), reading and interpreting diagrams
- Process efficiency analysis — process KPIs (cycle time, cost, quality, throughput), bottleneck analysis, value-added analysis (VA/NVA)
- Exercises: mapping a key process in the participant's organization (SIPOC + swimlane), identifying bottlenecks and KPIs
Day 2: Optimization, automation and implementing BPM in the organization
- Optimization techniques — eliminating non-value steps, simplification, standardization, parallelization, Lean in BPM (waste elimination)
- Process automation — BPMS (Camunda, Bizagi, Appian), RPA (UiPath, Power Automate), low-code/no-code, when to automate and when not to
- Process mining — automated analysis of system logs (Celonis, Minit), discovering actual process flows, conformance checking
- Implementing BPM in the organization — governance (COE, process owners, RACI), budgeting BPM initiatives, business case, optimization ROI
- Change management — resistance to process changes, stakeholder communication, quick wins, building process culture
- Exercises: designing a BPM initiative for the participant's organization — business case, governance model, implementation roadmap
